Why has there been a 50% increasing the price of Microsoft 365 Personal? This is an extraordinary increase and unaffordable for most people .

But by Microsoft's own admission it is not the same product as last year but contains many (dubious) enhancements people just do not want. Also back in 2013, you could buy the softwear from a shop, load it onto your device, get updates with no further outlay. Now we pay more in one year for the product than we ever did to buy it outright AND it is an annual cost. The 50% increase is clearly out of order and you are just about the only outlier that thinks the unannounced increase is fair play. Glad you have no financial constraints. Obviously most of us do.

I am in Australia too and had the same concerns. I admit the heart rate got up there whilst going through the process, but I was able to change back to the original Personal Classic version. The thing about Microsoft is that even though they treat all their customers like fools and cash cows, they do not ant you to leave so they keep checking you really want to cancel before it actually happens. Just stay focused on your screen and read everything because they do not make it easy to change back I was able to do it but waited until just a day or so before renewal. In the meantime remove auto-renew agreement, that way they have to contact you to remind you to pay up!

This is also the only price increase since 2013, when the consumer version was first shipped.

Which always was very very fairly priced. 6 users now, each with 5 PCs/Macintosh devices, with 1 To of OneDrive... for tons of features...

It is still a more than honest pricing... and this is an increase of 30%.

However, the current price is... unchanged, since there is a discount.

For the personal version... most people have family or relatives, I hope for them... family is the highlighted version.

Then I'm sorry if you cannot afford this. Yet, you most probably can.

Otherwise, StarOffice is your friend.

Microsoft! How is this allowed? 50% hike in the subscription! disgusting and not to mention the little warning time of change. People are already on a budget and if you bring new tools into the Sofware suit we your customers should have the option to use it or not and not lap us all with your almost doubled price to pay for said services!

If this is how Microsoft wants to treat is customers I think you will see a lot of business going else where that offer a similar and more competitive service.

A trading standards or an independent pricing governing body needs to be called into this price hike. It is well above the standard inflation rate.

I must admit that I am 'very apprehensive' in cancelling my subscription which is due in July this year as there's absolutely nowhere I can see the Classic version being offered. I know you said to go through the process to the very end and one other person said it didn't give them that option at the end. I am in Australia, I wonder if that could be the issue. I have currently turned off my recurring payment until I can comfortably go to the classic. And like so many others here we shouldn't have to go down because we don't want their new Ai features, surely some of them must have some human intelligence to know that this way of doing it is going to upset people.

Same here. I cancelled my automatic payment, but could not find another option and piked out at the end as I was concerned I'd lose cloud storage files and I need Office for work. Will look into the install versions for next year. I just find all the AI "assistance" really annoying...and simple things are sometimes made harder.
