A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Cherry.Z's advice was the worst advice I've ever seen on a Microsoft Forum, and I've seen some bad advice before. Every detail is wrong.

I don't want to use the copilot features that have automatically been added to my Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) - and I feel that this should be something that we are able to do, without having to purchase a subscription to copilot and then disable it.
How can I disable these features, to stop the shadow offer to use copilot on every new line I start on a word document and remove the icon from the tool bar?
This should be something that is an optional add on, rather than a mandated installation.

There IS NO File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options.
There IS NO File > Options at all in the Mac version of Word.
There IS NO File > Feedback either.
Have you ever even used Word for Mac? Are you just copy-pasting canned replies?
They're just using Co-Pilot to reply -- it's the same people who don't actually have their own thoughts in writing who are writing the software and replying in the forums. But be thankful! There will never be a higher ratio of actual humans to bots in the future as we have now in January 2025!
Thank you for this. I rely on my brain to write. I do not want to use AI to do one of the most human things there is, which is using language. Every other "feature" can be turned off or removed. Not setting such an option up with the Copilot update was an intentional choice. A very bad one. I would rather write the worst, most garbled tripe ever written than to have someone or something else write my thoughts and ideas for me. And I don't want an annoying copilot prompt showing in my document ever. I'm too busy doing what I sat down to do - write - to be forced to think about AI every time I open a document.
Fix this, Microsoft.
Thanks.
You are not communicating with Microsoft here. As explained in earlier replies Microsoft decision makers do not monitor these fora. Use the methods in those replies to voice your comments to the development group. Nobody here can fix anything.
Nothing personal, but me too postings merely add to the unwieldy length of the thread which discourages others from reading the entirety.
