Hi Jimmy BSS,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

It sounds like you’re encountering an issue where the Microsoft Authenticator app isn’t providing you authentication code. This can be frustrating, but here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue if you are using a Microsoft 365 Business/Education account user.

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Microsoft Authenticator app installed as older versions might not support all features. To get the latest version, please check Download Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Support
  2. Tap Settings and select Turn off battery optimization for better sync performance.
  3. If you're using VPN, try disconnecting to see if the issue persists. Please try to switch to another stable network as well.
  4. Check for Prompts: Sometimes, the app might not immediately show the input field. Ensure the app is unlocked and look for any pop-up windows or prompts within the app.
  5. Alternate Sign-in Method: If the Authenticator app is not working, try using another sign-in method, such as receiving a code via text message or email, if available.
  6. If you are end user or if you are admin but other user has admin rights, it is suggested to contact your admin and ask admin to re-register the Authentication method for your account. Admin can do it by follow Manage user authentication options. (If you are not sure who is your admin, can refer this How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support).

As your query is related with authenticator, while we are belonging from Microsoft Exchange online, so we have limited knowledge of authenticator queries. For further assistance as we have separate community, it is suggested to kindly post your query to the Authenticator community support Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Q&Aif you try the resolutions above but do not fix the issue, or if you are using a personal account.

Thank you so much for your precious time. stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Luckie Shi | Community Moderator.

    Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. I am stuck in the circle. I cannot login into the project storage which is in Microsoft Teams, because it's connected to my Microsoft account, but I cannot sign in into my Microsoft Account, while it is asking me to authenticate via Microsoft Authentication app in my phone, but the app is not giving me any code. There's no alternative way of authentication possible. It seems I shall change an authentication method, to get an alternative one, or, re-register Authentication method, but in order to do that- do change the settings in my Authenticator app- the app is asking me to sign in.. by getting a code from Authenticator app.. How can I get out from this circle.. ? I am desperate while I think I tried everything (restarting, uploading the latest version of app, changing the password..) and nothing is working and I literally out from my project storage and can't do anything. Please, help me.

It's still not working on my phone. I am given a 2 digit code number to enter and then go to the Authenticator app but there is no where to enter that code. I have switched off battery optimization. It's useless. Just going around in a loop.
