Hi Jimmy BSS,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to assist you.

It sounds like you’re encountering an issue where the Microsoft Authenticator app isn’t providing you authentication code. This can be frustrating, but here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue if you are using a Microsoft 365 Business/Education account user.

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Microsoft Authenticator app installed as older versions might not support all features. To get the latest version, please check Download Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Support
  2. Tap Settings and select Turn off battery optimization for better sync performance.
  3. If you're using VPN, try disconnecting to see if the issue persists. Please try to switch to another stable network as well.
  4. Check for Prompts: Sometimes, the app might not immediately show the input field. Ensure the app is unlocked and look for any pop-up windows or prompts within the app.
  5. Alternate Sign-in Method: If the Authenticator app is not working, try using another sign-in method, such as receiving a code via text message or email, if available.
  6. If you are end user or if you are admin but other user has admin rights, it is suggested to contact your admin and ask admin to re-register the Authentication method for your account. Admin can do it by follow Manage user authentication options. (If you are not sure who is your admin, can refer this How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support).

As your query is related with authenticator, while we are belonging from Microsoft Exchange online, so we have limited knowledge of authenticator queries. For further assistance as we have separate community, it is suggested to kindly post your query to the Authenticator community support Microsoft Authenticator - Microsoft Q&Aif you try the resolutions above but do not fix the issue, or if you are using a personal account.

Thank you so much for your precious time. stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Luckie Shi | Community Moderator.

    All,

@microsoft Support - We all need help with this! I cannot get someone on the phone. We are in a round robin wiht authenticator. None of the steps will work that have been offered by many. There are lock outs, round robins, and a mismatch of IDs.

There are many of this with a need for a reset of our IDs on Authenticator. Please provide a number for us to call to get this resolved. I'm going to have totally shut down my microsoft accounts and choose a different provider for all my business needs if this can't be resolved.

    1. When I try to login with my id on admin.microsoft.com it asks for userid and password.
    2. Once that is entered it shows a code for my authenticator
    3. However, the pop up never occurs to select the code
    4. I've uninstalled and re-installed
    5. If I remove the authenticator on my phone and re-install it no help
    6. The ID on my phone says connected but doesn't receive
    7. I have no alternative to login. I cannot set a passkey - because it also sends a code to my authenticaor

    as do every other method.

    1. I would be able to log in if it wasn't linked to authenticator

So Microsoft - is there a way we can can call someone to get this reset on our servers?

I have had 3 tech support companies look into this without any results

The same answer - you have to call microsoft

But guess what there's no one to call

How can you not have a security desk that resolves these issues

    Microsoft Please help us!

Microsoft system crashed with through all my authentication accounts out the door I cannot log in or retrieve any of my backed up data. I need you to restore my data. So that I can resume being able to access all the accounts that were configured in there.A few months ago before the crash.
