In Excel, how do I remove the Quick Access pane in the File Save interface?

The quick access pane is providing links that I do not have write access to and never save to, and I need the 'Browse' folder option at the bottom, which I now have to use the scroll bar in order to select. This is adding extra steps and reducing efficiency, so I would like to remove the Quick Access pane.

    Try this:

    in Excel, click on File -> Options

    When the Excel Options window opens: On the left, click on Quick Access Toolbar. On the middle pane, scroll down and click on Save As -> Add then OK.

    This will create a new icon at the very top of the excel window to the right of the other icons (auto save toggle, quick save. etc,)

    I can't get screenshots to upload, sorry!

    Click that new icon and see if that works for you.

    Microsoft please fix this or post how we can eliminate this list of site/locations that we don't use in individual work. This is very annoying when trying to open an excel file.

    No. it didn't fix issue. I'm still seeing "Quick access" despite deselecting "Show Additional places for saving..."

    You can try creating a custom ribbon that includes a 'save as' button. This will just open the save as dialogue box without the extra click and scroll.
