Occasionally, when trying to open a file or document library in one of our SharePoint sites, instead of opening the file/folder, SharePoint prompts the user to download a file named "preload" (Speicific message - "Do you want to download "preload"?"). If the file is downloaded, then the downloaded file is empty; it has no file extension, is 0 KB large, and opening it in NotePad opens a blank window. This issue does not lock users out of files or folders - when attempting to open the file or folder again, then the user is able to open the file/folder without issue.Currently this issue has only been observed on Apple devices and only while using Safari. Efforts to recreate problem on Windows/Firefox and iOS/Safari/Different SP site have been fruitless.Could this be an issue with the specific SharePoint site or a general Apple-wide problem with SharePoint Online?

Didn't work for me sadly.... any other suggestions- pretty frustrated I can't access a sharepoint site that I set up on a Mac with Safari
This is the same case for me - I wonder when they will be fixing this. It's frustrating especially since I don't know what it is
SAME. maybe it started after I updated to 14.5? (safari 7.5)
I'm having the same problem with Mac and Safari. This happens only when opening a Sharepoint folder as far as I can tell. It started a couple of months ago, where an empty "preload" file is downloaded as soon as the page finishes loading. It does not interfere with accessing the folders or any other Sharepoint functionality, but it is extremely annoying.

Same issue on Safari, 0kb "preload" file downloaded when opening Sharepoint. Others using Chrome don't have it.
