Access randomly crashing when I try to filter

This also just started happening to me. You go to filter on a field or sort using the menu ribbon or right-click options and Boom! It crashes and tries to save a backup copy of itself. Any recent changes you made to other queries or objects that you may have been working on, but not yet saved, are lost.

It seems to be a recent development in the last few days. This occurs working in the very same set of MS Access databases that I have been working in for a number of months with no problems at all, so I doubt it is a problem in the database. I run compact/repair fairly regularly, and the databases are all reasonable sizes ranging from 50 MB up to 1,500 MB

Some of the databases are 'front-end' databases have queries used linked data tables housed in a separate MS Access db on the same local drive, some connect to data tables in a separate access db on a network drive, and some are just when querying data tables within the locally-saved database.

I'm doing a lot of work exploring data, and this is happening to me every 10 to 30 minutes. I hope they figure this one out as it is hampering my productivity.

Have the same issue, toggle on filter-by-form, crashes ms-access (thanks for the datasheet view workaround)

Happened both on win10pro and win11pro 64bit computers immediately after office update to version
Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2407 Build 16.0.17830.20056) 32-bit (20138)

Another win10pro 64bit computer works fine and was NOT affected, as it remained on previous version
Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2406 Build 16.0.17726.20078) 32-bit (20160)

there is a discrepancy between build numbers displayed in account-about and about-dialog-boxes.

Is there an easy way to be notified, once Microsoft fixes this specific issue ?

I can also confirm that the version 2407 update from August 1st is causing Access to crash when applying a Filter by Form and has broken our business critical application on multiple desktops. I have taken the following actions to ameliorate the situation:

Disable Office 365 updates on all computers that have not been updated

For those that have V2407 rollback the Office 365 installation to version 2406 Build 17726.20160 using the instructions at: How to revert to an earlier version of Office - Microsoft Support This fixes the problem. Make sure you disable updates afterwards.

For those machines that fail this rollback use this cumbersome workaround: for us, the crash only happens when filter by form is used within the Form View. Switch to Datasheet View, execute the filter and return to Form View. Filtering in Datasheet View seems to be stable

Note sure if this is related, but release notes for 2407 state a bug fixe for linked tables. Our app uses a SQL server backend and heavy use of ODBC connectors in linked tables.

This one needs to be fixed quickly.
