Absolutely! It took me a while to get the Power Automate setup but it works even if its not through actual "@" tags!

You def. can @tag someone but not in a traditional sense but rather by using @tags as plain text in the comments section within the Planner.

Using just Power Automate and Planner (no need for the Power Graph API), you can type something like @mark or @karyl (or any custom tag) in a comment, and assign that @tag to a specific email address. You can also create tags based on user roles.
For example, let’s say your team has 50 account managers, but you only want to notify the one(s) assigned to a task — without bothering other team members like developers. You could use something like @am, and Power Automate can be set up to notify only the account manager(s) assigned to that task, instead of tagging each person individually (though that’s also possible if needed).
So yes — you can use custom keywords in the Planner comment section, and Power Automate can pick those up and notify the appropriate individuals.
