How to disable the research pane in Excel?

The research pane automatically pops up while using Excel. Not sure is there any trigger keys for this. But I'm unable to disable the research pop ups once it is activated. Currently we close all the excel files and reopen them only then the pane is disabled.

Is there any way to disable the pane permanently?

  • Start Excel.
  • Press Alt+F11 to activate the Visual Basic Editor.
  • Press Ctrl+G to activate the Immediate window.
  • Enter the following line, or copy/paste it from this post into the Immediate window:
     
    Application.CommandBars("Research").Enabled = False
  • With the insertion point anywhere in the line, press Enter.
  • Press Alt+F4 to close the Visual Basic Editor.
  • The Research task pane shouldn't appear any more.

    This Research function has been bugging me lately..

    every time I close it appears again, and again and again... litereally no end...

    I just doesn´t lets me continue working.

    I have been an excel user for more than 20 years or something like that.... so in no way a begginer..

    microsoft, what is going on with you?

    1 It is absolutely rubbish

    2 it is of absolute no benefit,

    3 from my point of view candidate for worst addition ever..

    Try holding ALT key and close the pane.

    I have disabled the research pane over and over and over, and it still keeps coming back. It is by far the most insanely annoying feature of MS Excel. PLEASE make an option in the settings to permanently disable it such that it cannot come back without going into the settings and turning it on again.
