How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.

I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.

Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?

    Yep. Hey folks, don’t reinvent the wheel, the efforts and attempts have already been made! THERE is NO WAY to be sure you’ve removed COPILOT unless you completely cancel your subscription as I did two days ago (a huge weight off) and instead use a single-purchase MSOffice version (not 2024) or an alternative to Microsoft, without Copilot. To just ‘turn it off’, if you can, in your Current sub means you’re still paying for it and perhaps it’ll reappear in future updates. Don’t pay for it if you object to it! This unsolicited AI infestation is definitely a consumer rights issue.

    This is NOT about Apple. I need to disable Copilot and OneNote in my Windows desktop. I've gone through hell trying to find a way. NONE of the instructions have worked.

    Many thanks for you help and guidance through this. I believe we have sussed it finally. Logging in and on and off and into Office 365 account holder, etc, etc, etc. What a palaver!
    I see that we are not the only ones slightly put out by this development.
    Usual big tech push around of the plebs who have to use it I guess.

    I cannot find "settings" or "personalization". EXACTLY how did you get there?

    One update to the instructions to switch to a CLASSIC version of MS 365 Office - without Copilot AI. You have to get into your current subscription and hit CANCEL. That will bring up options to Switch to MS365 Classic personal (for 1 person) or MS365 Classic family (for multiple people).

    However, be advised that the latest sleazy thing Microsoft has done is to say that you won't be switched to the Classic version of MS365 until your current subscription renews. If you just renewed your subscription, you'll have to wait a year before Classic is activated.

    So if you pursue this course of action, you'll still need to disable Copilot on your current MS365 Office subscription to get it disabled until you can switch to the Classic software (minus Copilot AI) whenever your current subscription renews.

    If this isn't illegal, it should be.
