Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

    Dear Microsoft,

Fix this issue now. I am not paying you nearly $200 a year for your product not to work as expected. Backend, frontend, I don't care. I can't perform my job because a folder shared with me by my boss is only accessible through the OneDrive website. I can't be downloading and uploading documents and pictures and website files back and forth. That takes time I don't have. And I don't want to hear about how easy the online products like Word and Excell are to use straight from my browser. I want this shared folder to sync to my desktop like it was before so I can continue my work.

Maybe next time you should start your migrations with everyone that would be affected by the side effects of the process. Or perhaps you'd prefer that I cancel my subscription and move to Google, since I won't have to wait, and you expect us to do, in order for that solution to take full effect immediately?

    Sincerely,

    David M

It's been almost 2 months since this problem started, and there is no solution from Microsoft yet. Just unbelievable!

I tried Microsoft Support through twitter and they said:

We appreciate your prompt response and providing details about the concern. We have received confirmation from our management team that this OneDrive concern is a known issue, and our team of Microsoft engineers and developers is actively working on resolving it. For now, we do not have a specific time frame for when this issue will be resolved. While this resolution is in progress, we suggest periodically reviewing the OneDrive folders if you can open them without turning them into web links. We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter. If you have other Microsoft-related questions in mind, please feel free to share them with us again. Stay safe! -Eden

    I asked:

Thanks Eden. Where can I go to monitor progress? Why isn't Microsoft sending updates or notice that the issue exists? Will they? People online have been having issues since the beginning of June.

    Their reply:

We appreciate the link you shared and understand how important it is for you to get this issue resolved. Our dedicated team are actively working to restore normal service, and they are doing everything to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. For now, please continue to monitor your OneDrive shared folder from time to time. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this inconvenience. All the best. -Mary

    My take:

So long story short, I sent the link to this conversation to them as support/evidence of the issue. It doesn't seem like they will be using any notifications to keep us posted on progress and we are supposed to monitor our folders to see if it gets fixed. Its an oddly unprofessional answer from such a large organization.

Dear William.Y, Do you and Microsoft realise that it is causing a major problem for people worldwide? OneDrive Is not a 2 GB free trivial service anymore. Peoples lives and income depends on that. Shops, hospitals, patients are getting directly affected. Yet, Microsoft is not even recognising. I am unwilling to believe that Microsoft does not have the technical knowhow to mitigate this problem. In contrary, such delay comes from utter disrespect to its paid customers. I am very sorry but it pains so see how 'ignoring people' culture is back to Microsoft again. A sad time for loyal Microsoft users.
    Regards
