Hi. I had some folders shared from different users in my OneDrive account. I had added the folders to my OneDrive with Add Shortcut to OneDrive button from Shared folders in cloud. The account is logged into a windows pc and every files including the folders shared with my were syncing fine until yesterday. Yesterday night the shared folders were completely removed from the Windows pc and folders are replaced with internet shortcut. This is such a big mess. I have tried unlinking the account and linking it back, changing the location of OneDrive on my windows pc and tried to get a new folder shared to my account and adding it to OneDrive. Nothing works so far. OneDrive has a big part in my daily activities. Please help me resolve this.

Here is the statement from the Microsoft OneDrive product group (Redmond USA) about the OneDrive Personal problem:

***This is related to a backend migration we are doing and unfortunately, we don’t fully support syncing shared folders in the case where one user has migrated and the other has not. We’re doing everything possible to accelerate things so that it can be resolved as soon as possible for users of the feature. When the accounts are migrated, there is automated logic that makes them go back to a syncing folder within several days.***I have heard, that shared Folder issue is gone.
The best thing is: WAIT and do nothing

Unfortunately, Dropbox, Google Drive or other solutions are not possible for our application.
Our problem is that we have to work together as a team on some complex Excel spreadsheets at the same time, including writing, which cannot work in Office Online. (It needs access to the local file system and would have to be completely redeveloped to solve this differently).

Congratulations, Microsoft, for not managing to come up with a solution after 8 (!) months, even though thousands of your paying customers are suffering as a result. You can see where you've ended up!

We have therefore decided today in the Board of Directors to invest and say goodbye completely to all Microsoft products (Windows, Office, etc.) and switch to other solutions. The massive problems and costs that we have recently incurred justify this step.

I know you don't give a damn about the postings here. We no longer care about you either!

No one knows. I've submitted two support requests. MS just doesn't care. Hell, they can't even respond in their own support forums.

5 1/2 months after OP and I just experienced this for the first time 3 days ago... Everything was normal Monday, then Tuesday morning, all the folders shared with me through OneDrive were gone or turned into Internet Shortcuts. I can only access them through the web, which makes my workflow a lot more difficult. Some files were automatically renamed, some had partial contents, some were empty entirely. I updated, shut down, and restarted the computer. No dice. The owners tried resharing the links with me. Nada. I tried deleting, re-downloading, and unzipping all the files, which gave me the updated files but won't allow my updates to sync with the original file and share with other people through OneDrive. I ultimately signed out of my Microsoft account on my computer and did a full reset on the laptop. Still nothing. Trying to fix this has taken nearly 5 hours today alone, all to learn there isn't an actual fix for it. Stop pushing Game Pass and fix the OneDrive files, please...
