Microsoft 365 Calendar Won't Sync with iPhone or Webmail

Microsoft reported on February 29th that the connection issue for MS 365 using Exchange ActiveSync had been resolved.

I then changed my settings to allow for updates as I too had lost my Exchange connection. The update installed was 2402 (Build 17328.20162).

The update however, has now created an issue with the MS 365 calendar not syncing with my iPhone and Webmail. This only occurs when I'm using the MS 365 calendar on my laptop to add or change an event. The entry or change does not show up on my iPhone or webmail. However, when I use my iPhone calendar or Webmail calendar to create an event or change an event, it does show up in the MS 365 calendar on my laptop? Go figure.

I have deleted and set up my account on my iPhone. I have uninstalled MS 365 and reinstalled from my MS Account. The version reinstalled is 2401 (Build 17231.20236). No change.

I use Shaw/Rogers as my email provider.

Please help.

Thanks

Barry

Are you connecting to Microsoft 365 Exchange online (including outlook.com)?

The issues that were fixed in Version 2401 Build 17231.20182 apply to 3rd party services that use Active Sync (like Zoho) - not Exchange Servers (outlook desktop does not use Active Sync to connect to Exchange).

    Hi Jos,

Thanks very much for your message.

Yesterday, I received an email from the MS contact who I've been working with on this issue for the last couple of weeks. He advised that he is in the process of preparing a case study to share with his manager/supervisor and will update when next steps are determined. Keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

    Have a great day.

    Barry

Barry, thank you for persisting with MS on this issue. My support ticket was closed by MS without a solution. Frustrating. I will follow your progress in this thread. Let me know if there’s any collateral I can provide.

    H Dave,

Thanks very much for your comments. I've been put in touch with a MS Agent on the business side, where I'm told Exchange Active Sync is managed. I was to be contacted to set up a telephone call with the agent today, however, have not heard from him yet. I sent the following email to MS a few minutes ago. I also attached your comments. So frustrating!

    "Hi Adam,

Since I have not heard from you to schedule a chat today, I thought I would provide you with the screenshots from the test I did last night after allowing the latest update “Version 2408 (Build 17928.20066)” to come through.

Coincidently I received another email today from a MS customer experiencing the same issue. I have attached it for your reference. As I have stated before, it’s obvious I’m not the only one frustrated with MS. I also must admit that since you and I have been in communication, we have not made any progress and that is disappointing to say the least.

Let’s start from the beginning. In January we lost connection as stated below.

The Workaround was to revert to Version 2312 Build 17126.20132 until the issue was fixed. As I have also stated this version works totally fine. NO issues that I can see.

This is a message from MS. on February 29^^advising users/customers that the issue was fixed in Version 2402 Build 17328.20068.

The connection was restored however, it is in this version where the calendar syncing issue started. So, one would think that the engineers can go back to Version 2312 Build 17126.20132 and compare it to subsequent updates to see where the issue is!!!

Outlook Desktop Exchange ActiveSync connections stopped working in Version 2401

    Outlook for Microsoft 365

    Last Updated: February 29, 2024

    ISSUE

After updating to Version 2401 Build 17231.20182 Outlook stops connecting when using the Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol.

    STATUS: FIXED

This issue is fixed in Outlook Desktop Version 2402 Build 17328.20068 and higher. To install the update right away select FileOffice Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Now, I’m going to attach screenshots of the test that I did after allowing the latest update to download. Because there are a number of them I will send them in a couple of emails. I created 3 tests as follows.

    1. Test #01 – Created a calendar event using my iPhone. No issues. The event appeared on MS365 and my Webmail.
    2. Test #02 – Created a calendar event on MS365. The event appears on MS365, however, not on my iPhone or Webmail.
    3. Test #03 – Created a calendar event on Webmail. The event appears on MS36 and iPhone.

I’m attaching these screen shots in the next email.

I’m not sure what more I can share with you.

Please help as this is starting to become a real frustrating experience. This issue has been on-going for 7 months. I realize that MS is huge and has a lot of other issues to work on, but as your customer stated in the attached email someone needs to own this and finally get it fixed."

    Best Regards

    Barry Manovich

This issue has been going on since Dec 2023. It worked for 10+ years prior. MS has done nothing to fix it. There are hundreds of customers with web posts on this. MS is so big and each department has blamed the other for this, and due to the size of MS there is zero accountability.
