How can I sort Planner tasks within buckets by due date automatically as I add them?

I use a Kaban-style board sorted into buckets for each project. Frustratingly, I cannot figure out how to sort the tasks within a bucket by due date automatically. Currently, if I want to see the most urgent items at the top and least urgent at the bottom, I need to manually drag the task down... which does not scroll down well, so I often need to drag & drop, drag & drop, drag & drop... until it arrives where I need it.

How could I keep this same Kaban-style board format (not list, grid, or schedule view) and have each column sorted by due date, even when I add a new task in?

    Here in October 2024 because I was hoping that this would be addressed in the recent updates that were rolled out for Planner/Planner in Teams but it still doesn't seem to be possible :(

    Planner is a great tool in a lot of ways, but I still have to manually organize cards by due date within buckets on big plans, which takes forever and isn't made any easier by the UI. Weird that this basic function isn't available in a software that keeps boasting it's AI integration to me.

    Sounds manual... Vs the suggested feedback and feature request to have it automatically do this..

    100% agree. This task was TEDIOUS! But it was the only way I have figured out so far to sort my board view and grid view. And of course I can't resort without having to go back and do it all over again, so I better leave it the way I sorted it :(

    It would be great to have this as sortable, instead of having to manually doing it. That is a big hassle and my staff and I find it really annoying to having to do this for every bucket in a number of different projects.
