Hello,
for a couple of days or maybe even weeks I noticed that in my recent files list in Windows Explorer several files appear which I did not actively open. At this moments there are 13 of these files in my list. All of these files seem to be on OneDrive.
This concerns me in two different ways:
Security: have the files been "touched" by some villaineous software, or have they just been checked routinely by Windows and its components?
Usability: In the recent files list are more then 50 percent of files which I did not work on and which will block my view on the files I did open.
I am hoping for advise.

Has anyone tried unchecking "Include accoutn-based insights, recent, favorite...." under folder options of Home?
Open File explorer > click home > click the "..." > go to options > uncheck Include account-based insights...".
Since apparently Microsoft isn't monitoring this thread and since they wouldn't let me start a fresh thread that would be monitored, we need some ambitious folks to go through the process of calling tech support. Maybe if enough people call they will at least respond on this thread about an estimated time for a fix.
(Just don't make the mistake I made -- I accepted the tech's assertion that it was "fixed" by unchecking the "show files from office.com" but that doesn't fix it, it just means many files that are recent will no longer show in the "recent" list.
Additional information -- researching online led me to info that by unchecking "allow collaboration" can fix the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have that as a possible setting. I used to have it, but it's disappeared.

I am having the same issue. Started Dec 11 after an update. About every two minutes one of my OneDrive files shows as being accessed. I am the only one with access to these files. I changed my OneDrive password and ran Defender security scans on my computer and it still is a problem. I log off my computer, and after logging back in it is still a problem. I turned off the synch, turned it back in and files were still being accessed. Don't know what to do.
Yes, and it's frustrating. We seem to be left with nothing we can do except wait for the fix. I hope it will come.
