Microsoft is using deceptive tactics to hold our content hostage. I wasn't given any intimation on how OneDrive would without my permission take hold of my folders and content and not release it back to me unless I took their subscription account to access them. Even though I have paid for a yearly subscription, I still am not able to restore back all my content to my local storage. Though the sum of amount they've received isn't much, the value of my content is too high for me. I do not want them on OneDrive, I want them locally on my computer and for me to access, store, or transfer per my discretion.
When they apply this policy at a systemic level where all Windows users are subjected to it, suddenly the under $20 annual fee obviously becomes a much greater sum. It is something that must be attacked and resented publicly. A class action law suit is necessary when companies begin to act so callously.

Point by Point
Microsoft like most monster corporations has the same code as health insurance, Delay, Deny, Defend. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delay,_Deny,_Defend I'm fighting the Kaiser version of that right now. Thankfully Kaiser has been successfully sued over and over for what they are doing to me and lost, but who has money for a lawyer and an ALJ hearing costs me $180. Thankfully I have things I've made that people want to buy.
Kaiser, Microsoft, the truth is they don't care. I operate from a place I call Benevolent Anarchy. Anarchy is the European sense of the word. Act with the best of intentions, when anything or person is in a 5 foot radius is to be treated kindly and with respect, but do what has to be done if you feel you've been wronged Truly wronged. Then let your rabid dog out to play and protect yourself. I'm not against guns per se. I never have owned one nor do I want one. I will use every type of social media and the law. I will be relentless, have no mercy, I will not be kind, I will be law abiding. That is why I believe Microsoft should be sued.
Has this class action lawsuit happened yet? It definitely should. I honestly believe what they are doing is deceptive and possibly criminal.
They literally take your personal data without permission and store it in servers where it may or may not be secure.
It is a complete invasion of privacy! Others may get access to your personal information without you knowing it.
And then they have the gall to hold your data ransom and say you must pay a fee to access it! How is this not criminal behavior? It's no different than a burglar steeling your computer and demanding you pay to get it back.
And it's even worse if you have an Outlook/Hotmail email address, because they will shut off your email unless you pay their ransom!
Please, please, please someone file this lawsuit against them. They've been getting away with this behavior for far too long.
I don't want to hear any more lame excuses of "well, why don't you just disable it?"
Why must we beg the thief to not rob us!
I agree 100%! My files have been taken not only from my PC but two of my email accounts without my permission, knowledge!
Microsoft cannot force people into arbitration just because they used windows, zero contracts can forbid you from suing.
Let me know if you find an attorney and start a lawsuit I'm in! August 2024 the greenone posted on this form looking for a lawyer as well. This software is far too intrusive and illegally grabs data. Once it's in one drive without my authorization I am unable to remove the data from one drive. Highly illegal!
I wish we all get together and bring a class-action lawsuit against Microsoft OneDrive. I am constantly getting pornographic emails under memories of the day and I have lost a great deal of my important files that are highjacked and not stored in my C-drive.
