OneNote 365 Not Displaying TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS Option

Hi Support,

I installed the latest version of Office 365 / Microsoft 365 and while searching online says to go to VIEW > TABS LAYOUT > VERTICAL TABS to make OneNote display the tabs vertical as opposed to horizontal; however, when I click on VIEW, I don't see this option and only see the follow image below.

I tried to go to FILE > OPTIONS > DISPLAY to see if I could customize the RIBBON and don't see this option.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Dear Sonny,

It seems that you are talking about the feature mentioned in New Layout Options for OneNote on Windows are coming soon (microsoft.com). I'm afraid that the feature hasn't been released to all version number of the OneNote application. I suggest you keep close eyes on the updates of the OneNote application and wait for the feature in your environment.

As a workaround, you can click on the notebook tab>click on Pin Notebook Pane to Side currently.

I'm afraid I don't set that. I may be a Systems Admin, but I don't deal with the Channel settings for our updates. I'll pass that along to my coworker.

I suggest you use Current Channel of the Office applications to see if you can get the feature in your environment now.

I wish I could do this. Unfortunately - the following three OneNote display options on my desktop computer are greyed out and not selectable. And yes -I am using OneNote not OneNote for Windows 10.
- Move page list to the left.
- Show notebook list on the left
- Move Vertical Scroll bar to the left
Windows is up to date, as far as I know. 22H2 Windows 10 Enterprise 19045.3448/ Feature Pack 1000.19044.1000.0

Office is up to date. Current Build is Version 2308 (Build 16731.20234) Click-to-Run, Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview)

OneNote is Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2308 Build 16.0.16371.20182) 32-bit

This seems to be on brand new setups where users have not had OneNote previously installed and updated. This is for not just one user but all users that create profiles on this new machine. We also have another desktop exhibiting the same exact issue with multiple users.

Some things to note:

Can't PIN notebooks either. It's like half the Tab Layout feature was installed. :-/

I have a company laptop (Lenovo T14s) that I have maintained and used OneNote (desktop) for years and it does not display the above behavior. Those Display options listed above are selectable on my laptop.

My Laptop Office Build and OneNote Versions are identical. Still on 22H2 and same Feature update for Windows. Build a tad different. 19045.3393

This is stupidly frustrating. The promise of 'cloud based apps' is the premise that solutions can be deployed faster. A tool set that used to be in the premise product is removed and the best answer is, "please wait, your business is important to us". gah
