Device management notification

This suddenly popped out of a device. What does this mean? What should we do?

"mddprov account has removed your workplace account and deleted all of the information associated with your workplace account (including business apps, password requirements, and other policies) from your device."

Have checked the Settings > Accounts and the account is still connected to that same device.

It's always been something of a mystery as to which incident notifications actually show up in a given tenant. Microsoft's system for who sees what is clearly imperfect, but based on the message that someone helpfully posted above, Microsoft considers it resolved.

Has anyone seen it happen freshly today?

I can confirm that this is still occurring for some users in our tenancy - (so far) mainly on personal devices with a linked corporate account

I can also find no reference to the previously mentioned case in our Service Health Dashboard:

" incident IT535131 - Some users are unexpectedly receiving notifications indicating workplace account removal from a device.

More info: The error message includes: "mddprov account has removed your workplace account... from your device."

Final status: The investigation is completed and we've determined the service is healthy.

    Have raised a support ticket

I made a case with them, and they responded saying that it is an emerging issue that happened globally, and their engineering team is investigating. They said there will be a service incident published, but there is no timeline for when it will be fixed or explained and that your IT administrator can periodically check the Message Center in the Admin center for updates on the issue.

I manage several different companies with their own M365 tenants and the exact same message has popped up for some users across a few of these companies. i haven’t pinpointed a common denominator yet.
