How to exclude folders with pics appearing in the photo gallery

How do I exclude folders from appearing in the Photo Gallery of onedrive Android?

The photo gallery of onedrive Android is showing all photos in my onedrive. I believe the Photo Gallery should limit to only the photos in the Pictures folder, same as the online version, but this is not what is happening.

This means it is showing a lot unwanted pics by default in the photo gallery, such as wallpapers, documents pics or even private medical photos that should never appear in the default photo gallery.

Yes, there is a filter in the Photo Gallery to only show "Pictures folders", and this works. However the filter is not sticky, this means every time I open the app it reverts back to show everything, so if I have people around when I open the Photo Gallery, I never know what private photos are going to show up.

I have tried using the ".nomedia" file to exclude folders, but no luck.

    In my case I am going to make use of something I already have subscribed - Amazon Prime.

    So, with no added cost for me I have unlimited space using Amazon Photos (silly of me as I was not aware this was included with my Prime subscription).

    I am just sad to move away from Microsoft a second time this year (stopped using Bing do to recurrent and uncontrolled Malvertising in my personad dashboard)...

    My friend, I do not work for Microsoft, I am a user just as you and wanted to share my work-around with other users for their benefit. So, a more thankful note would have been appreciated.

    It would also be helpful if you provide a link to a suggestion for the feature we all want at Microsoft feedback forum, if we all vote for it we might push it to be

    Exactly this!

    This is being ignored intentionally i feel!

    I have searched and tried everything to exclude folders from "on this day" notifications and to simply exclude the content from some folders from ever showing in photos but i never succeeded.

    I have some private folders with nude gifts and fun stuff that keep showing when i get "on this day" suggestion. Its really annoying that its mixed with family pictures like that.

    Its a big issue to be honest in personal privacy. If i was in US i would actually sue Microsoft for this.

    Also the setting don't work!!!

    I turned it off and still i get notification:

    Thank you. I'm using iOS app and and this filter is not here. But it's great that it's at least on the web and on Android, it means it will arrive sometime on iPhone.

    I also get an email every day with memories from that day that index all the files and folders.

    They should add an option to the settings to set photos, albums, and memories to only be indexed from the pictures folder.
