OneDrive Will Not Run MacOS Catalina 10.15.7

I have had Office 365, including OneDrive running on this Mac for several years. Yesterday, OneDrive updated itself (I have the Microsoft AutoUpdater set to automatically download and install updates) to version 23.061.0319. Following that update, it will not run.

I click on the icon in the launchpad, nothing happens

I click on the icon within Finder->Applications, nothing happens

I do not get an error message, there is nothing in the system log, it does not show up in application monitor, it seems to be just dead.

Here is what the system says about the OneDrive.app:

OneDrive:

  Version: 23.061.0319

  Obtained from: Identified Developer

  Last Modified: 4/3/23, 3:18 PM

Signed by: Developer ID Application: Microsoft Corporation (UBF8T346G9), Developer ID Certification Authority, Apple Root CA

  Location: /Applications/OneDrive.app

  Kind: 64-bit

If I run Microsoft AutoUpdate, this is what it shows for Microsoft products:

None of the Office products is up to date (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook). They are all on version 16.66 because the next version, 16.71 requires an OS Update, which will never come, because this macbook (Macbook Air, mid 2012) is too old and Catalina 10.15.7 is the most upgraded it can get.

Only OneDrive is up to date, v23061.0319, installed yesterday on 4/3/2023.

What can I do to get back to a previous version of OneDrive so that it works??? This sucks that it did not recognize that the most current version is not compatible with my laptop.

    Hi all,

when I apply these action 0.0.0.0 oneclient.sfx.ms , I can't do the onedrive download version anymore. it gives me the message:

    This site can’t be reached

    oneclient.sfx.ms refused to connect.

    Try:

    • Checking the connection
    • Checking the proxy and the firewall ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

is this to be expected? is there something I can revert this action, do first the download and apply this action again?

This solution works! This is by far the easiest solution to do. All others are complicated and take too long.

Replacing 23.061.0319 with version 23.054.0313 also worked for me. I used Time Machine to revert the entire OneDrive installation at "Macintosh HD/Applications/OneDrive" and then rebooted. I had to go through the login procedure again, and had to review the settings for Notifications.

There are still some glitches: OneDrive won't autostart on login, I have to launch it from LaunchPad every time I restart my MacBook; it also won't hide the Dock icon. But files sync OK.

A poorly-tested release for sure, an embarrassment for Microsoft.

Can you share a link to the old version of One Drive that works on the latest version of Catalina? Or where can I download it?

Also I have to install it and then uninstall the autoupdater?

    Thank You!

Reading this, so stricly speaking, updates will NOT take place on macOS older than 10.14.x, but updates will take place if macOS 11.0 or newer is used (well: "recommended" what does that mean ? is it a requirement ???) . OK, now tell me,....WHY is Onedrive proposing an update under Catalina 10.15.7 (in the App Store !!! e.g.) allthough this update ISN'T compatible with Catalina 10.15.7. You can install the most recent Onedrive,... but it won't function. Sorry to say MS, but this is a serious booboo you made there !!!
