Win 10 version 21H2 Build 19044.1706

Excel 2016 Version 2204 Build 15128.20224

This problem occurs randomly and with only a few cells being copied. The spreadsheet locks up and the only way out is Save>Close and open the book again. Sometimes that doesn't work and I have to close Excel completely.

Sometimes the top ribbon completely greys out and I can't do anything.

This is becoming a significant problem.

    Please see my post Aug 10 - yes they are relevant, though I've no idea why. The original reference said delete them, I already had one and added the other and bingo, copy paste problems disappeared.

    So if you have them and continue to have problems, try deleting them (first saving the .ini details in case there is a problem, though I doubt they'll be missed).

    Ok, perhaps not relevant, but have you tried to clear also the WinZip box? COM Add-ins are usually a source of trouble.

    The two folders mentioned to date contain on my PC:

    C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop\desktop.ini

    [.ShellClassInfo]

    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21769

    IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-183

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop\desktop.ini

    [.ShellClassInfo]

    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21769

    IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-183

    They are identical. Are they relevant to the Copy/Paste problem?

    No such luck in my system... no message pops-up.. even though I have Administrative priviledge of my session. I tried to nter the folder's Properties and remove the Read-Only checkmark, to no avail.

    When I click on the config folder, I get a box saying: 'You don't currently have permission to access this folder'. It then says 'Click Continue to get permanently get accessto this folder'. Click on the link saying 'Continue' and you should get access.
