How to disable Files On-Demand in OneDrive MacOS? It's enforced since the last update ...

For OneDrive home and business, I cannot disable Files-On-Demand since the last update. This is crucial, I need full access to my files at all time.

What is going on? Why would you enforce Files On-Demand on your customers, isn't it enough to enable it by default? My 70GB of cloud data is not local anymore, sometimes I have no internet, you are locking me away from my files. Also making it impossible for me to do full text searches. Files On-Demand is also too slow, waiting a second to display folder contents is too much when you organize things in deep folder structures.

How I can disable Files On-Demand? Will you please stop knowing the best for your customers? We aren't toddlers. Thanks!

If Files On-Demand is enforced by policy, I will leave your cloud service once and for all.

    I have noticed this along the years for many times, that MS LOVES to change some popular/well-designed I/Os somehow, in totally non-sense ways. the latest example is this one. Why the hack to change it? New project/product managers want to show their work?

    Good government relationship managed by MS is the only reason I am stuck with the products, as Office 365 is the only business cloud service that runs well in both US and China. I have moved to the MacOS platform for years BTW. Keep doing this, and I will definitely try to move to apple's iCloud for my business in the future.

    Hi, Mia; I understand the awkward situation you are in where someone up the chain removed a feature and then has left you to deal with us angry users who no longer have local control over our own files. You need to know that the "Always keep on this device" solution simply doesn't work. I'm a pretty savvy user of both Microsoft and Apple products (I started with Microsoft Office 1.05 in 1984 and bought my first Mac shortly thereafter) and something doesn't work with macOS Monterrey and OneDrive. Microsoft should never have forced us to use Files on Demand in the first place. I know you didn't make that decision, but you have closer access to that person than any of us posting here.

    The only solution I have is to download all my files and leave OneDrive. For those who might be reading, head over to insynchq.com and you'll find a convenient way to access your OneDrive files and keep local copies by default on your computers. And it works with Linux.

    Thank you for posting the advice to select a few folders or files only. I could not figure out how to even find the "Always Keep on this Device" without that nuanced direction.

    For Microsoft and everyone else, I do agree with the overall sentiment that Microsoft chose to break something that was working. My voice joins the chorus of "fix it!"
