Microsoft Office has Identified a Potential Security Concern

Hi,

Starting this afternoon, when I copy an paste an HTML-based wiki file (from Zendesk) into Word, I see the attached error.

I perform this operation numerous times, and never saw this notice until today. I have Word 365 Win10.

The problem does not occur when I paste a Confluence page.

Can someone clarify this message for me? What do they mean by "Choosing YES will enable updating all fields in this file..." What fields? And are they talking about the source file or target file?

This is a bug in the current build - Microsoft is aware if the issue and working on a fix - but I have no ETA for when it will be fixed.

    No, no one in the development team "monitors" this forum. One of the tasks of MVPs, like me and Diane Poremsky, is to alert the team to reports of possible bugs with wide consequences, like this one. As Diane mentioned in this thread on July 7, they are aware of this one and are working on it. When we hear that a fix is being released, we will post here, but we don't have any power to facilitate the fix.

    When rolling back, its recommended you wait a month, until after the latest updates are released, then check Help > What's New to see if a fix is listed. Or just check for updates and see if its fixed.

    If i hear that a fix is available, I'll try to remember to update this thread.

    1. Yes, something in the page you are copying makes outlook think there is a form field.
    2. In the message, after you paste. Fields will show up as { FIELDTYPE "value" }
    3. In my opinion, no, especially when it's from a site you trust.
    4. Best guess: yes, and update triggered it. Unless the wiki was updated. Did you copy from a public page? Post the link and I'll try it.

    Please clarify:

    Do you mean the file I'm copying FROM?

    Please specify at exactly what point I'd press these keys? When the window pops up? Or somewhere else?

    3.

    Also, is there any harm in selecting YES?

    4.

    Why would this behavior suddenly start to occur? In fact, the same doc that did not throw this error is now causing it to occur. Office update, maybe?
