Microsoft Office has Identified a Potential Security Concern

Hi,

Starting this afternoon, when I copy an paste an HTML-based wiki file (from Zendesk) into Word, I see the attached error.

I perform this operation numerous times, and never saw this notice until today. I have Word 365 Win10.

The problem does not occur when I paste a Confluence page.

Can someone clarify this message for me? What do they mean by "Choosing YES will enable updating all fields in this file..." What fields? And are they talking about the source file or target file?

This is a bug in the current build - Microsoft is aware if the issue and working on a fix - but I have no ETA for when it will be fixed.

    Welcome to group. Sadly it's been 6 months+ and Microsoft, for whatever reason, has decided to ignore this error, and has not yet fixed it. I agree. Very annoying!

    it likely is Exclaimer cloud - they have a solution - What to do if you receive a Microsoft Word Security Notice – Knowledge Base (exclaimer.com)

    Another user suggested adding this registry key in How do I disable "Microsoft Word Security Notice" pop-up (page=6) (tonisa Replied on September 16, 2021)

    HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Security\

    DWORD: DisableWarningOnIncludeFieldsUpdate

    if you click the About Word button it will show the suite name - this is mine in outlook (word is the same)

    Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (16.0.14217.20002) 64-bit

    You could rollback a couple of builds and see if the problem goes away, Rolling back is easy enough.

    Type cmd on the start menu, right click on the Command Prompt, choose Run as Administrator then copy and paste the line in the command prompt. (This is a April 23 2021 build)

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

    If you want to use a different build, get the build # from https://docs.microsoft.com/officeupdates/current-channel and update the command line.

    Don't forget to turn off automatic updates or the current build will be installed again.

    Hello Stephen,

    I'm Diane, an Office Apps & Services MVP and an Independent Advisor.

    That message means there are form fields in your paste - press Alt+F9 to see the fields. Paste special > as plain text should solve the problem.

    Yes means the fields will be updated.
