I think at this point in time, since we've heard nothing from Microsoft on the subject, your only option is to rollback your build.

Microsoft Access is not allowing me to compact and repair the database. It keeps saying file is open. I made new database and imported files even then same issue and it says it is opening in sharing mode. I haven't shared with anybody. How to shut off this sharing mode. Mine is a single computer for home and is not part of any network. Please guide. Thank you. Ripal

Its to do with how quickly Access processes the object is what I have figured. So its probably to do with some temporary memory or something. I have tried all sorts of things on different computers and this is what I have figured. Don't know what to do though.
Update: Brand new computer Windows 11. Installed Office 365. The compact and repair was working... but only for sometime. I was off my desk for a bit and the computer I think had gone to sleep. Started in few moments and then the messages started like file is in use by other user. I went and gave full rights to all users for the file thinking that might allow me to open file in exclusive mode. No such luck. This is really frustrating. Sent feedback to Microsoft through the app. Good knows if they will actually read it. Please help whoever knows what to do. Could it be something about user login. I did everything. Logged out. Logged in. Repaired the app. Reinstalled the app. But it doesn't work. Please help.

Hi,
In response to your questions Daniel:
I don't see anything else running in task manager, don't have any programs like grammerly. I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with some sort of background synching, so I deleted dropbox, just in case, but that didn't help.
Microsoft Access for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2201, Build 16.0.14827.20180) 32 bit.
Thanks
I'm experiencing the same thing with build 2201, 14827.20198, 32-bit. I've never used or installed Grammarly.
I've followed steps to revert to two different previous builds of Office, with no success. I'd have to guess an uninstall/reinstall would be pointless.
Guess I'll have to wait as usual until MS decides to throw us poor developers a bone.
