Microsoft Access is not allowing me to compact and repair the database. It keeps saying file is open. I made new database and imported files even then same issue and it says it is opening in sharing mode. I haven't shared with anybody. How to shut off this sharing mode. Mine is a single computer for home and is not part of any network. Please guide. Thank you. Ripal

Several people have spoken with them in the past week. We are all waiting for some formal news, but nothing yet. Nothing from them or Microsoft on the subject. All we know for sure is disabling McAfee resolves the issue.
I turned off the McAfee real time scan and I was about to Compact and Repair the database.
Thanks to all for working a solution.
Have spoken to McAfee again and they want some logs which I will send. They are saying there are no other reports of the problems so can anyone else affected please contact them and report the issue. Many thanks.
@TheLeanMachine - Thank you. It is Mcaffee that is causing the problem. Uninstalled it and Microsoft Access works fine. I am going to speak to Mcafee customer care in a day or two and ask them to come up with a solution. All the same, for now we have figured out a solve for the moment. All reading this and facing the problem , uninstall Mcafee and reinstall or update your Access.

"I think I found the culprit. I turned off Grammarly from the system tray and now MsAccess no longer get stuck as a background process. When I turn Grammarly back on the problem immediately returns. What's interesting is that Grammarly does not activate when I use MsAccess. (Apparently its still listening). I tried turning off Grammarly for all my Office Apps but no effect on MsAccess. This seems like a serious security issue. I hope MS locks this down fast."
