Printing Envelopes in Word - Blank Page Printing After

Using Word 2016

Printing form letters and envelopes is a large part of my job. For years I've been able to go to the mailings tab, select envelopes, have the address extracted from the letter and print the envelope no problem. As of this week, every time I do this a blank sheet of paper prints out after the envelope. To clarify, there is not a blank page being added to my document, just a blank page being printed out after the correctly printed envelope. One proposed solution I've seen is to disable two-sided printing which I have done and it did not solve the problem.

Update:

While I have not been able to solve the root problem of Microsoft printing an extra page when printing envelopes, I was able to change printer settings to stop the issue. In printer preferences (for my printer, under the detailed settings tab) I turned disable blank page print on. I want to clarify that this is not the cause of the problem, as I have had this setting off for years and never had this issue, but it does fix the problem :)

    I have this same exact issue. I have read through several posts, tried all the "fixes" suggested and nothing will stop the blank piece of paper from printing. I have been printing envelopes for years and never had this problem until last week. It's super annoying and Microsoft needs to fix this ASAP.

    So how do we make Microsoft aware of the situation and get a response from them?

    You use the feedback mechanism to make Microsoft aware of it. I provided three links dealing with that.

    Please read them.

    Microsoft will seldom acknowledge anything but bugs do get fixed. Sometimes they announce the fix. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/current-channel

    Hi Kevin,

    I too am having the "blank page printing after printing an envelope" problem. This started last week or the week before. I tried the "print only the data from a form" fix, but it did not work. It's not a big deal for me, because I just put the blank sheet back in the printer feed drawer, but it's still perplexing.

    This is a bug.

    Your feedback will keep pressure on Microsoft to fix it. They do not see anything you post here.
