16.0.13801.20182 is the problem - either upgrade to 16.0.13801.20288 or downgrade as I wrote below and have been working for 3 days without the error.

This has NOTHING to do with Windows updates.

This is caused by the "Office 16 Click-to-Run Licensing Component" and its latest update to version 16.0.13801.20182 or later.

Rolling back to version 16.0.13530.20528 (aka "Version 2012") will solve the problem.

See below I have been error free since the downgrade after 3/7/21

    Hi Player896353562,

you will be pleased to hear that your answer, that Office Updates would be the solution, was the correct one!

I Updated yesterday, and do not have the Heartbeat error, this morning.

As for Alex's question about the Click to Run version, I am using that.

    Thank you for your help.

    Mike

Also since I updated Office to:

    Version 2102: March 09 (Build 13801.20294)

I never saw that "Heartbeat Exe not working" again. Can you confirm this?

Hi Mike, I would do a manual check for updates. Open any office application and go to the 'Account' section. Here you should find an 'Update options' button on the right. Clicking on this will enable selection of the 'Update now' option.

I'm not certain what the latest version/build of Office 2016 is but his will show any updates that are available.

I have just done what @Player896353562 has suggested and now OLicenseHeartbeat.exe no longer exists. It seems to be the solution (by eliminating the source of the problem!).
