16.0.13801.20182 is the problem - either upgrade to 16.0.13801.20288 or downgrade as I wrote below and have been working for 3 days without the error.

This has NOTHING to do with Windows updates.

This is caused by the "Office 16 Click-to-Run Licensing Component" and its latest update to version 16.0.13801.20182 or later.

Rolling back to version 16.0.13530.20528 (aka "Version 2012") will solve the problem.

See below I have been error free since the downgrade after 3/7/21

I have also just done the update and now showing 16.0.13801.20294

Will wait until tomorrow morning to see if this resolves issue BUT we should not have to do these updates manually.

    Hi Player896353562,

I have just done that, and I am up to date!

Incidentally, I have discovered, now, that just below the 'Update options' button is an 'About Outlook' button, beside which is text detailing the Build Version! Happily they match!

    Thanks again.

    Mike

Thanks for your information and suggestions.

I checked and found I am running 16.0.13801.20182 and the heartbeat app failed again this morning when I first turned on my computer. I just updated to Microsoft 365 version 16.0.13801.20288 and will report tomorrow whether the issue is also resolved for me.
