Actually, this time I didn't think the comment was aimed at me, it was a general suggestion. Most of us are unpaid volunteers. If someone peeves us, we just ignore them from there on.
.
On the other hand, I am one of "those" people. Sometimes I do ask questions. Sometimes I do provide links I think may help.
.
Trouble shooting is an exercise in pattern matching. If you recognize the symptoms described, the "pattern", you may be able suggest a specific fix. Sometimes, even if you recognize the problem, there is more than one possible fix. And sometimes, if you
only vaguely recognize the problem. If we were sitting at the problem computer we would go through various trouble shooting steps to try to identify the problem. Since we can't do "hands on", we have to ask questions.
.
The solution to the problem should be a registry hack. That is how Windows normally handles this sort of thing. The trick is finding the specific registry key, and value required. And MS can be switching up the key as people turn off the current one (thank
you Windows "telemetry" (aka Spyware).
You see, this is the problem I have with this whole situation... There are 2,925 views for this particular question, so clearly a LOT of us have the same annoying problem that we can't fix ourselves. Despite some of the smart people on here tinkering with
the Registry, which might I add, not everyone is skilled enough or fearless enough to use. I can quite easily follow directions to get in there, but I know if I do something wrong, I could screw up 10 times worse - I don't want to risk that thanks!
And for anyone volunteering on here, thank you for your time, but I'm not on here for volunteers' advice. I PAY for services. I paid for MS Office, I pay for Xbox Live. I should be responded to by a Microsoft Support agent who is paid to do the job and they
should know and answer these questions! There are so many questions I have seen (and asked myself) that have gone unanswered or have been given the run-around with links that are irrelevant or invalid. It wastes everybody's time!
Why there isn't simply a selection box in the 'Options' settings is beyond me. I thought after October 13, 2020 we wouldn't be getting the messages anymore... Instead of "Support is ending" now we get "Support has ended". Well dah! And as Roshanlal said,
we paid for a 2010 3x PC pack (we actually bought 2 as we had 6 devices at the time). You think we're going to pay $199.00AUD for ONE COPY? You're laughing!
