Error when trying to login in to Microsoft Teams

I have been having issues logging into Microsoft teams and I seem to be the only account in the organization unable to login. The administrator confirmed that it was activated however, I still receive the error message about missing out and to contact the administrator. The account administrator removed the license and re-added it for my account. I also received an email from Microsoft about having conferencing for Microsoft Teams or Skype for business online once the license was added back on. (I received this email before as well when Microsoft teams was activated). I am not sure what is going on and the administrator has tried everything as well. I'm having issues on all platforms using the desktop client, the app on my computer, and my iPhone app. I am able to login with my other companies information without any issues so I know it isn't my computer or phone. Any other options for us to try before we give up?

Hi Issueshelp,

From your description, I'd like to conclude your situation as following points, please feel free to correct me if there is any misunderstanding:

  1. You cannot sign into your account in the Teams desktop client, Teams web APP as well as the Teams APP of your iPhone.
  2. Your colleague's account can successfully log in to Teams on your computer and mobile phone.

In this situation, please kindly try to removing stored user credentials in the Credential Manager via using Control Panel to check this issue.

If the issue persists, try to clear the Teams caches: exit Teams completely, go to***%appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache*** and delete all the files. Then go to %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Application Cache\Cache, delete all the files. Re-open Teams to see if you can sign in successfully.

Similarly, if you still cannot sign into your account in the Teams web app after clear the Windows credentials, it is recommended to clear the browser's caches and cookies and try again.

Moreover, to narrow down this issue and help you more efficiently, we need to collect following information for analysis:

  1. Did you receive the same error message in the Teams desktop client, Teams web APP and the Teams APP on your iPhone? Please provide us screenshoots of the error messages for analysis.
  2. Please check if you can sign into your account in your colleague‘s computer.
  3. If convenience, please change to a different network environment and check the result.
  4. Can you sign in to Teams before? Please send us a screenshoot of your account licenses for analysis, thanks for your understanding.

Best regards,

Jennifer

Thank you for this.  I could login to my personal Teams on the web and phone (don't have an org with my  email).  I could not login to the desktop app though on my Windows PC.  It kept saying I am not signed up and was telling me to sign up for my organization (I am not part of an organization and only personal free use).  I saw mentions of deleting the Cache directory %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Cache on Windows which didn't work for me.  Looking at your comment though I just deleted the entire Teams directory at %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams.  I then started teams and it logged right into my personal account.

    Thanks!

I have an organization that was instructed to sign out of Teams so that they could sign in to a Microsoft training using Teams that they signed in as anonymous.  After completing the training, they attempted to launch the Teams App and receive a pop up stating "We need you to sign in! Either your password changed or the server needs your sign-in info again".  When the user clicks the button to "Sign in", they are brought back to the same message never receiving a prompt to enter their sign in credentials.

I quit the Teams app and ran the steps above to clear the cash but this did not resolve the issue.  I also signed in using the web browser and then, after I was successfully signed in, clicked the button to open one of the pages in the Teams app anticipating that my credentials would transfer to the app and I received the same issue requiring sing in with no place to enter my credentials.

I have tried to find a way to point the Teams app to my organization's URL and to be prompted for my credentials and have been unsuccessful.  If we are going to use Teams in place of Webex, we need this issue to be fixed.  While users are able to access Teams using a web browser, the only way we've found to fix the app is to uninstall and reinstall.  This is not an acceptable practice since we plan on attending additional Microsoft trainings using Teams that will require anonymous logins.

A team mate just reported that he believes the issue occurs when installing Teams and the "Allow my organization to manage my device" box is checked.

He states that he had to uninstall the app, delete the cache, and then reinstall and not select this checkbox and click on "No, sign in to this app only" which corrected the problem.

We should have the ability to right click on the app and select sign in and be prompted for our credentials.  This feature is not available and should be.
