SharePoint Republish Button Disappearing

Recently, when I click the Edit button to go into Editing mode in SharePoint Online, the Republish button doesn't display where it used to. In order to get it to show back up I have to refresh the page.

  1. Click Edit button.

  1. Republish button missing.

  1. Refresh the page. This popup keeps reappearing no matter how many times I close it out.

  1. After closing the pop-up, the Republish button has returned.

  1. Clicking the Republish button puts me back at Step 1. I have to go through this process every time I want to Republish any page.

As you can see, this quickly becomes annoying. Please help!

    @Msft - is this being looked into? Intermittent issues with links not displaying, very slow loading of page edit tools, links not working with a single click and general poor performance. Makes the modern edit experience far far worse than it was in classic. Should we give up on modern?

    Reconfirmed this today --the only option after editing is to "save as draft". Then refresh the page and the "republish" button reappears. It seems similar to the issues affecting theme rendering and the settings button etc either not appearing or appearing after some time. Most likely this is a scripting error where not everything on the page loads quickly enough or at all.

    I also got this error today.  This issue has occurred randomly over the last few days.  The issue is exactly as described in the original post.

    • Republish button disappears. Only option is to save as draft
    • Refreshing the page will usually bring the button back
    • Browser: Chrome Version 79.0.3945.130
    • SharePoint: Home page and site pages

    It should show Republish button next to Edit button.

    After clicking save as draft", the site status should show Check out. 

    As you can see that's not the case. Please escalate this and get it fixed PERMANENTLY.

    Hi Adam,

    I'm willing to help. 

    I create a new site for test, but I can't repro the issue by my side so I have several questions to know your condition better.

    1. What browser you are using? Change to Chrome or Edge and check the result.  
    2. Does the issue happen in only one site or other sites?
    3. Please send the URL to another admin and check if he has the same issue as yours.

    UPDATE: The issue seemed to resolve itself quickly after posting my original question, but it has come back this morning. Not sure what's triggering it...

    1. This is happening in Chrome.
    2. Every site under our hub site.
    3. I'm the only Admin.
