I keep getting the following in my office products:

RESTART REQUIRED  Restart office to apply changes to your privacy settings

I have not made any changes to my privacy setting recently yet keep getting these prompts. Anyone else running into and discovered what the cause of it is?

I am getting the same issue, MS Office keeps asking for restart. Despite me closing all Office applications and re-opening still asks for restart. Have closed ALL and restarted entire laptop (Window 10) device, still persists.

    The above advice from ClarlesJones32

1.- Open an Office application, for example Word >> File (Click on this option) >> Account >> Manage settings >> Account privacy >> You will see the table: Your data, controlled by you (Scroll down) >> Connected experiences >> Allow Office to analyze your content to provide you with improvements (Activate this option) >> Accept, quit Word, verify the results.

fails at >>Account privacy>> there is no data table!! I just get a small window in my desktop colours saying "Restart Required" and a helpful OK button that doesn't do anything except clear the window.

Like other users I don't want Office to analyze my content, I am happy using the Office apps as they are, PROVIDED I don't get stupid recurring messages telling me to RESTART OFFICE!

Can anyone find a fix for this?

    Hi

I had this problem. "RESTART REQUIRED  Restart office to apply changes to your privacy settings" in Office products, not going away no matter how many times I restarted Office or Windows.

Inspired by some posts about credentials, I managed to solved my issue. I believe that various situations may cause the same symptoms, but perhaps a few of you can use the following:

I have at corporate PC linked to a corporate Microsoft account. But I had also set up OneDrive to access my personal Microsoft account. I did, however, grow tired of seeing my personal files end up on Excel's and Word's lists of recently used files after accessing them on my private PC at home. So I unlinked OneDrive from my personal Microsoft account.

Retrospectively, I am quite sure this is what started the problem. But I did not make the connection before reading this thread. In Word >> File >> Account there is a section called Connected Services. And my personal Microsoft account was listed there. I removed it, and that solved the problem :-).

    Cheers,

    Morten

Yes, I think I am in a similar situation, I declined data collection from Cortana long ago (I hope!) as I don't like data mining. So I guess cumulatively this has resulted in these endless messages. It's MSs job to sort this, they gave us privacy options and we have taken the options that suit us. They need to fix this, I have made my privacy choices and until the Office Reset is done I guess they are now mining my data without consent! Did you get that MS?

I also don't want Microsoft analyzing or recommending 'improvements.' I tried Option 3 (the article is wrong or not up to date as far as the screens go. 'Office'' was listed as a single product, not its components.) Nor was 'Modify' an option. but 'Repair' was, and I chose that. Nothing seemed to happen., and I could still open Office products while it should have been running, so I don't think it did run. I probably won't receive the 'Privacy setting changed' for another few days, but fully expect it to continue.

    Hi Gtr-Stosh,

I'm Charles, an Independent advisor trying to help.

Try the following to verify which of them help us solve the problem, if the step you are applying does not solve the problem, continue with the following.

2.- Close session and start session in office.

3.- Repair of the tool, this action is taken when one of its applications is not working correctly or shows error messages.

I hope the steps work for you

    Attentive to any comments

    Have a happy day

    Best Regards,

    Charles.
