Sharing Violations

Since installing Catalina 10.15 and Office 365 16.30 (updates installed the same day (something I will not due again)) when I attempt to save a workbook that I have used for a couple of years, I receive the alert: 'Your changes could not be saved  to xxx.xlsx due to a sharing violation.  I then receive the alert The file format end extension of 646820000.mactf don't match. 

I contacted the Answer Desk who say it is an Apple Product and Apple support said it is a Microsoft problem.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

    I accidentally updated to 16.34 and have not had any problems saving on either of our network shares, including working with specific files which were consistently problematic. Our IT have not made any server-side or permissions changes which could have solved the issue. I've been on this version for a couple of days now.

    As far as I am aware MS have not announced a fix in this update so perhaps the old problems will arise in the coming days but it might be worth trying the 16.34 update (could do just one app) to see if the problem's resolved for you too.

    I'll report back on this thread if I start getting the errors again.

    Are you sure it works? I´m a bit reluctant to try anything, because what i have now works, only have to deal with the annoying updater asking to install the new version.

    Edit: i did it, and it does not work for me. So i´ll downgrade again. This sucks

    Has anyone tried to remove personal information from file properties under preferences, security.  I checked this option and was able to save the file but i am curious if there are any issues when the metadata is removed.

    Steve... this only occurs with Excel files.  The Privilege is set to Read & Wtite.

    I failed to include in my earlier email sneer that I also beefed in Same Mode for Test 1 & 2, with the same results (made a few changes, tried to save it and received the Security Violation).

    Steve_Kra,

    For me, the problem only occurs with Excel files located on my networked Synology DiskStation (DS) running (Linux based) DSM 6.2.2. Access to the DS is from our MacBook Pro's via SMB. I've not seen this problem with Word files.
