Cursor becomes smaller in Office apps.

So glad I found this thread, I'm experiencing the same issue after a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro and Office 365. Tiny cursor syndrome appears in Word and Outlook (the applications I use the most) and only when hovering over hyperlinks or italicised text. Doesn't happen in Chrome or other applications.

Strangely enough, before this fresh install, the tiny cursor syndrome didn't appear on the exact same hardware.

What resolution, scaling, video card, mouse, etc., etc., etc. are you using?  I'm still trying to see the patterns as to when this issue appears and when it doesn't...

I found a solution!

After contacting Windows support, and not getting much help (They said it was an Office problem, then Office Support said I contact their commercial centre, as I was using a commercial version of Office, etc. etc.) I contacted Corel Support.

They were really helpful, asking for detailed report files from my system, and offering solutions to try.

In the end the trick that worked was to delete all of the temporary files on my system, and reset the Corel Designer workspace. This worked for Word and Outlook the as well the Corel program, so just deleting the temporary files should work for the two Office apps.

To do this, first restart your computer, and with no programs running, type %temp% in the windows search bar. This brings up one of your temporary files folders. Delete everything you can in this folder. You will not be able to delete everything, as Windows uses some of the files. Just choose the 'Skip' option for these files. You may need to enter some of the subfolders to get as much as you can. Then type %tmp% in the search bar. This brings up the second temporary files folder, and repeat the process. Then after a restart, see if the problem is fixed.

I also have this problem, and given you guys appear to be actively investigating it, I have taken the opportunity of a quiet office between Xmas and New Year to investigate my own issue:-

I believe it is scaling issue and therefore only affects applications that use scaling: RDCM, Word, Excel, etc.

It also only affects certain mouse cursors as per the examples in this thread.

A temporary fix is to manually alter your scaling in 'Display settings', just change the scaling to something else, sign out as instructed in red in the dialog and when you come back it will be OK.  You can then even go back to 'Display settings' and change the scaling back to what it was, log out and back in again and it will still be OK...until you eventually shutdown/restart that is!

I believe that the fault lies with Windows auto-selecting the scaling, but the fact it only affects certain mouse pointers is really odd.

I use my Lenovo Yoga 900 Laptop by itself, on dual screens at work and a single screen at home.  The problem only appears at work and only started a month or so ago.  All updates will be loaded to-date as I keep everything up-to-date.  I suspect a Windows Update.

Hope at least some of this helps and look forward to a solution soon - I'm even losing the cursor altogether in certain circumstances when using one of my apps which makes things particularly tricky!  At least I've worked-out this work-around for now - hope it works for you.
