I can no longer get publisher to print to any printer, including a physical printer (HPLaserJet) or to a file, i.e. a PDF. It tries to connect for about 30 seconds and then once connected the print button remains greyed out. All other MS Office programs work fine. Any ideas?

Yes! I haven't been able to print from Publisher 2013 for more than a year, and the last time I tried to figure it out, I just got bogged down with people complaining about Microsoft. The pdf work around was ok, but annoying. So I started searching again, and your solution did it for me. Thank you!
I had this problem and solved it by unchecking "Use XPS enhanced print path when available" under Publisher Options>Advanced>Print.
Thank you for this solution however I cannot find how to do this in Publisher 2007. Is this a feature of newer versions? Again we need to establish a fix for publisher 2007 after the latest Microsoft update.
If anyone knows how to complete this task in 2007 please let us know and I'll try it.

I had the same problem with my wife's PC and could not print with primoPDF either. Moving the file to my windows 10 PC and printing to my Lexmark worked. This worked on my Wife's PC . In publisher go to select file (not the printer button) (You may have to expand the drop down) and select "Publish as PDF or SPF .." then save it some place easy like desktop open in PDF and print.

Have had issues with printer not working after windows updates in the past, but cant find a fix this time. :/
I am having the exact same issue with a client's PC, right down to the same version of Office and Publisher. All other apps print just fine. Printer is an HP Offficejet Pro 8630.
Printer drivers are up-to-date from HP.
The only (painful) workaround at this point is to print to PDF, then print the PDF.
Will be following this thread, and I look forward to a fix...
Thank for the tips. Everything is up to date and the problem persists. The problem is only with MS Publisher. All other programs, including other MS Office programs, work fine. MS Publisher also says it is up to date.
