Unable to delete Word file in an Android Device

I am trying to delete a file but Word (android GalaxyNote5) is saying I do not have permission to delete

    Open word

    Tap "open" in bottom right

    Keep opening folders until you find the one you want to delete (note i couldn't delete it from the "recent" folder);

    Tap the triple dot menu next to it;

    Tap delete.

    Hope that sorts it for now

    Go to apps then in that Word then clear cache. All files deleted. Same for Excel.

    Excellent ! Works for acrobat too.

    Just extremely happy. I went great lengths, but just stopped short.

    But I guess, removing any given file from Word's own list selectively, also works. While, ar the same time, also removing any downloaded file manually with "Myfiles" works selectively.

    Try:

    Settings > Apps > Application Manager > Word > Storage > Clear Data

    Worked for me on Samsung galaxy s6
