M/S AutoUpdate 3.4 for Mac Not Downloading to Mac

I have just been advised by AutoUpdate of this Update to the program but it will not download. I get "An Unexpected Error has Occurred" warning after a period of time. It is as if it has Timed-Out

I had a similar problem with the latest Outlook update for the Mac too but someone cleared that up and it eventually downloaded  a few days later. Similar Fault?

I have tried several different sources to get a viable download with no success.

Try this workaround:

Go to system preference - network - advanced - DNS

Add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the DNS server.

select OK - Apply.

Then try running the update.

Perhaps you must be in the "insider" program to get the 3.5 updater. Did you check the box to join the program?

Daft Question coming up -

I presume, from what you have said, that you, too, are also on a Wi-Fi connection between Computer and Router rather than both Wi-Fi and Cable?

Now that you have the new DNS addresses in the machine and applied these changes instead of trying the manual download try the Microsoft AutoUpdate route again.

Have you tried switching off your router and leaving it for a couple of minutes until all of the power has been discharged rather than do an immediate re-boot? Sometimes the router requires a bit of down-time to itself.

The only other thing that springs to mind is to turn off your AV Software since this could be blocking access to the server?

    Hi Team,

    It has happened again!  This time with the latest AutoUpdate from MS dated 16/02/16. In this case, the suggested workaround we sorted out is still on my Mac and it Downloaded but none of the five updates will install. My AV is OFF just in case. I tried installing them one at a time but keep getting the 'Unknown Error' message again.

    Is anyone else suffering the same problem, again?

    Saturday Evening 20/2/16 Just tried again No joy! So far I have tried these steps:

    In Privacy Settings Turned off Firewall

    Set Accept Update from "Anywhere"

    Turned off AV

    I restarted the MAC after changing these settings.

    Does the Download of all five parts no problems.

    Asks for permission to Update.

    Starts to 'Verify' first part

    then Starts to 'Install' Power Point Update 15.19.1.

    then hangs!

    I have even left it overnight just in case it was incredibly slow.

    Still have not been able to locate these four files that MS looks for thatmay help with the process.

    Any Ideas, please?
