We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder Double-click the OneDrive folder When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin) Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt In the command prompt, type the following command: cd %userprofile% press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command: cd OneDrive press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command: icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e (where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix) press Enter on your keyboard If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop and opened from there.

I tried this too and it didn't work. Had I downloaded Windows10 on my MAIN computer, which has over 60,000 files on it, I shudder to think of the damage that would have been done. Imagine not being able to access all my business records and personal data and trying to copy them into OneDrive when each OneDrive file takes at least 60seconds to access. OMG. This is just appalling, Microsoft. Why it isn't in the general news is a mystery.

So...before I knew there were any problems with Windows 10/Microsoft Office compatibility ...I updated to Windows 10 on my secondary almost brand new computer (did this last week). The computer was on Windows 8.1 (a nightmare operating system) and is primarily used for web browsing so had nothing much on it thankfully. After the install, I found that ALL my Microsoft Office programs had disappeared. Vanished. The icons were on the desktop, but they were blank. I could not find the programs on my hard drive anymore (despite having Office 365 previously installed). I then found lots of forums like this one where others have been having precisely this same issue for many months now (and other worse issues as well, such as not being able to open or save their existing documents). Having spent the whole weekend trying all the suggested fixes, and with nothing working, I reinstalled Office 365 and now I have the icons and their associated programs back. I am totally shocked that such a big corporation as Microsoft could launch Windows 10 and encourage mass transition by millions of users when something like this seems to commonly happen to those who install Windows 10. What I don't get is why it only happens with SOME downloads/SOME computers, but not with EVERY computer. If it happened with everyone, there would be massive media interest and even more complaints of course. The fact that it is happening to many thousands of people is not as significant as if it happened to hundreds of thousands. The whole process has been disturbing and I am buying a MAC as I can't stand the glitches with Windows anymore. I also read that their in-built anti-virus software Windows Defender rated 0.5 out of 6 recently for picking up viruses and malware.

I have sent links to this discussion board to Fox, NBC and ABC news networks in hopes that they will do a story and kick Microsoft into gear or admit that they have not created a legitimate product that works.

Windows & Office. Microsoft's two biggest products. They cannot make them work together. Just use Apple, far easier.

I'm in school. The fact that I can no longer open and work with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is killing me. I'm borrowing other computers and relying on my iPad to get work done. Unbelievable.
