We are aware of this problem and will release a fix in an upcoming update. Here are 2 workarounds that have been successful for other Community members. In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Run type %userprofile% into the Run box and click OK to open your local profile folder Double-click the OneDrive folder When you get prompted to allow access, click to allow access. OR In Win 10, Right-click on the Start button and choose Command Prompt (Admin) Click Yes to the User Account Control prompt In the command prompt, type the following command: cd %userprofile% press Enter on your keyboard 4. In the command prompt, type the following command: cd OneDrive press Enter on your keyboard 5. In the command prompt, type the following command: icacls %userprofile%\OneDrive /inheritance:e (where %userprofile%\OneDrive is the location of the folder you want to fix) press Enter on your keyboard If these methods do not work, OneDrive files can still be accessed from different locations, including phone, tablet and online. Any single file from the OneDrive folder can be copied and pasted onto the desktop and opened from there.

I am no computer whiz but I need to be able to save my word docs. I have tried the work around to no avail. Why has there not been a fix to this issue yet??? Help me save my docs. I have signed up for OneDrive and everything but it has not helped.

I finally found a good fix - I went back to Windows 7!!!!! Microsoft, you really need to start listening to your customers or you will lose them! I work with people who won't use Microsoft but prefer Red Hat. I may have to join them. I won't upgrade to Windows 10 until they get their act together. Good by!!!

I followed a MS online automatic repair process which solved the problem but has now removed the link to my 365 account and wants me to re-activate the Office suite - can't. This is atrocious mismanagement of a very important matter. Once again I'm left wishing there was a viable alternative to microsoft but, like the rest of the world, being trapped.

I can no longer open excel or word documents lists sent to me on my desk top. i prefer to use my external drives for storage and I am having enough problems with Windows 10 to force me to some other operating system. These workarounds do not seem to help. If i have an excel sheet on my desktop I have it there for a reason. I find I cannot use the shortcut and every time I try to open i get a message that tells me there is a problem sending the command then tells me to select a fix that never seems to work.
