How can I configure Excel to open only one instance similar to 2010.

Excel 2016 when opened opens only one instance. However, let us know if you are talking about the ability in Excel 2016 to open multiple spreadsheets in the same Excel 2016 window? If yes, then this feature is not available in Excel 2016 and was discontinued since Excel 2013.

    I work for the VA and they recently updated to the Office 2016 version at my facility. The new version does not allow me to open multiple files in the same window. This should be a toggle on the options but is not. Why is it important to do this? For me I have one file I that opens every time I start Excel this is my VLookup Data and Scripts I use for all my work. I was able to open any additional files and the scripts could be used as well as all look up data. Now I can copy the data tab to the new file in the new window but the scripts do not work or even transfer with the data tab. Please consider looking at all possible uses when removing features. I recommend adding the feature as a setting in the advanced tab at a minimum.

    Hello

    I do not find this to be an improvement. I loose a lot of time and space. It would have been better to give people the choice, with a config option. I regret 2010 for this possibility. I can't even imagine what advantages this 'improvement' can bring to anybody. Please go back to as it was before. Thank you.

    I don't know why they don't ask us before changing existing options we are already used to. Couldn't it be a simple checkbox to choose between one or multiple instances!!! I had to downgrade to 2010; only found solution HammerCA!!!

    You can open Excel workbooks in separate instances, however, we have yet to include the option to open multiple workbooks in a single instance.
