PowerPoint Mac 2016: The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file.

AAHHH! I just upgraded to PowerPoint for Mac, Office 2016, and I'm getting this same error. I spent a whole week on a presentation that I'm doing to tomorrow and almost all of my images have disappeared. THIS IS TERRIBLE! I'm not sure what I'm going to do. 

'The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file'

Is there a fix for this?? Preferably before tomorrow morning? These are all images that I either created or pulled as screen shots. (All jpegs.) 

PLEASE HELP!

    I'm sorry that doesn't help.

    The corrupted powerpoint file that had the issues was downloaded from dropbox to desktop.

    But yes, it is a serious problem that has been going on for years and they still haven't fixed it.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your response.  But, no, that does not help.

    We are working with Macs, on Google Drive, becuase this is a shared collaboration, designers and authors working on the same file. Also, the new Macs just dont have enough space (flash drive), you are forced to use shared drives or external ones. We have tried everything, but nothing works.

    I want to cry now, because I have started to replace the images from the beginning and all the cutting, cropping done, is also lost.  This is nothing short of a disaster for us. 

    Also, I agree with several people that THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM and the least Microsoft should do is warn people not to use shared drives and to only use the Documents folder, which is really stupid, this is the age of cloud and collaboration.  But at least if we had been warned, this would not have happened to us.

    Recently I had a deck go bad and asked for a repair when I tried to open it from a flash drive. It worked perfectly on my desktop.  I would drag the file over to the flash drive and double-click to open and it would be corrupted.

    So, I decided to right-click copy the file and pasted it in the flash drive and then I right-clicked and select open file and it worked fine.

    That might be something. It's very weird, I know and it doesn't make sense at all, but it worked.

    THIS IS A DISASTER!!!

    I just lost all my presentation, weeks of work. How can this be??

    Has anyone found any solution to this?  I dont know what I'm going to do.  I have 90 slides full of pictures, they have all dissapeared, from this morning that they were all there, to this afternoon.  It is just impossible to think that I will have to redo it all.

    How can this happen with a Microsoft product?

    I'm sorry, but I'm just so dissapointed and dont know what to do now.
