PowerPoint Mac 2016: The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file.

AAHHH! I just upgraded to PowerPoint for Mac, Office 2016, and I'm getting this same error. I spent a whole week on a presentation that I'm doing to tomorrow and almost all of my images have disappeared. THIS IS TERRIBLE! I'm not sure what I'm going to do. 

'The image part with relationship ID rId2 was not found in the file'

Is there a fix for this?? Preferably before tomorrow morning? These are all images that I either created or pulled as screen shots. (All jpegs.) 

PLEASE HELP!

    Hello,

    My company has been dealing with this issue constantly ever since we've upgraded to O365 and have our mac users move to the new software.

    I'll double check to see if the images have any special characters in it, but is there any other solution out there?

    I've been scouring forums and there is no solution.

    One thing that is mysterious is the version of PowerPoint being asked about. Please go to the PowerPoint menu and choose About PowerPoint. You should have version 15.19. If not, then install the updates and test to see if the problem has already been taken care of by an update.

    The best way to prevent the problem (assuming it's the same one as beset Office 2013 on Windows) is

    1. ALWAYS put your presentation on the hard drive, never on removable media, before editing it
    2. NEVER put your presentation in a folder where some other program will access it while you're editing, especially programs that try to synch the folder with the cloud (Dropbox and the like).

    Unfortunately, once  the file's giving you this error, it's already damaged; there's no fix other than deleting the pictures and re-adding them.  

    I am working with a PPT 2016 file and saving it to box.com. I have not only received this error message on my current file and lost all of my images (several days of work), but all stored prior versions which I have attempted to download and open have the same error. Why would these additional versions, which were kA fine up until now, also be corrupted if they were not even opened recently? This makes no sense.
