OFFICE STUCK AT "We're getting things ready" (Office for Windows)

I activated my Office 365 Home Subscription and clicked the install button on the page. It downloaded an .exe file and so I clicked it, then an orange box popped up saying "We're getting things ready" and it has been like this for 30 minutes. What do I do? Could this be linked to the fact that I bought the subscription key thing in the U.S. and activated it in the Philippines through telephone activation because it was region locked? (They sent me an email with a link where it just required me to sign in and then it went to the install page)

Using a brand new Surface Pro 4 256gb i5 model

Update: Got past the first orange popup by forcing it to quit and restarting my surface then I got an error and then proceeded to click the help link on the error message then it made me download something and run that thing then now I downloaded the install .exe file again and ran it. Now I'm at the bigger white "Installing Office" with "We'll be done in just a moment" popup with the loading bar thing. I'm stuck at 15%. How long does this usually take and does it require internet? I have **** internet right now because of something called "Asia Pacific Downtime Blah Blah" my ISP keeps telling me.

    Hi, 

    For anyone, having problem on Office/Microsoft 365 installation, I shared your concerns since I am having similar problem.

    Here the way I fixed it:

    1. Login into your Office Account and Click Install, please sure you choose the correct Language and Office version. In my case, I choose English and 64bit, since I am using Win 10 64 bit.
    2. It will download the installation loader executable, in my case the file name is: OfficeSetup.exe

    1. Right click on the file name, and go to compatible mode, and select to be compatible with Windows 8, then ok and close the dialog box.

    1. Select the file, right click and choose, Run as Administrator
    2. After it runs, it will show you some error screen shown below, just click OK. Please be caution that it may or may not show up during the installation process. Just watch your installation and press OK to ignore it.

    1. Installation of Office 365 will start after loading depending on your internet speed. In my case is about 1-2 minutes.

    1. I keep watching installation and also by seeing if my internet network is downloading any activites

    1. ...and voila! It has completed successfully.

    I have an corrupt office 2016 installation, and even using Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant tool, I can't remove the corrupt Office 2016 installation, and also I can't remove it using Add/Remove Program.

    I just run my workaround above, and voila, it can install the Office 365 successfully and get rid of the previous Office 2016.

    I'm having the same issue.  It took me over an hour to get past the orange screen on my pc. My Surface pro is still on the orange screen and has been for over an hour.  Is this normal?  All I wanted was to be able to use Microsoft word for my school work.   Is this REALLY the only way to install office? Is it ALWAYS this slow?

    I found it what it was that day. These were the steps:

    -ctrl+R

    -regedit

    -HKEY_CURRENT_USER

    -SOFTWARE

    -Microsoft

    -delete "Office"

    -same process for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 

    -restart

    -follow the same installation instructions of    Office through my email ONLY!

    -done

    email me instructions at ******@gmail.com

    im success using 

    command prompt as administrator

    and type 

    net user administrator /active:yes

    log out from current user, sign in as administrator, and install as usual

    if you want to deactivated

    cmd type net user administrator /active:no

    Same problem but what i did was i right click the downloaded file from the microsoft and i clicked 'run as administrator' and it worked.
