Will Office 2007 run with Windows 10 ?

Having never even had or wanted a cellphone, there's no way I could set up a computer. So I hired a recommended local tech. He seemed completely honest, highly knowledgeable and extremely reasonable as to price. He replaced my dying Vista desktop with a Windows 10 Dell desktop. I also have an HP laptop with Windows 7. Both were originally set up by kids with whom I used to work.

I use Microsoft Office Standard 2007 on the laptop and used it on the now dead Vista. I only use it for Word documents. I've never wanted or needed to learn how to use it for Excel or Power Point. I don't exactly know what Outlook 2007 is. I'm thankful for the free hotmail account I've had since even before I got the computers; it loads under the Outlook moniker. I use it only to send and receive email. Microsoft has recently been sending me emails wanting me to upgrade to some new or improved Outlook system, which I've ignored. I despise change.

I'm a retired senior living on very modest means. The tech told me about Microsoft's new Office subscription model, which is a no-go for me. All along, the tech said he'd be willing to set up Office 2007 on the new machine but was pretty sure it wouldn't work  As an alternative, he loaded the free LibreOffice program on the new Windows 10 desktop. It's very simiIar to Word 2007 but I'd much prefer Word 2007.

I saw your and Andre Da Costa's 2015 posts after the new Windows 10 was up and running. I showed them to the tech when he came by for a free 1.5 hour follow-up session. The tech recalled a Microsoft announcement that after 09/2017, Office 2007 would no longer be compatible.

Is it? Word 2007 is on the new Windows 10 as a downloaded app, part of a nearly flawless transfer of mostly documents. I don't necessarily care if it's supported, I just want to know if it's still compatible as of today's date in 2018. Will it work?

how do I download to my new laptop  I selected all items on disk and sent to thumb drive and have the thumb drive in new laptop.  

Though Graham suggested installing from the thumb drive, if it were me I would copy all the files and folders to your hard drive and install from there. This can be a good workaround if the user finds the disc won't autoload or fails in some other way.

Find the setup.exe file and double click to start the installation process.

A dialogue box would usually come up on your screen, asking what action you want to take.  Select "Run" rather than viewing what is on the disk.  Then just follow the instructions.  It should be ok also to view the contents as what you have done and select run the program.  This maybe harder.  Good luck!
