YES, Office 2007 is compatible with Windows 10, I suggest you to follow the link Compatibility centerand check if it helps.

However, you may upgrade to the latest Office version.

Which versions of Microsoft Office work on Windows 10?

The following versions of Microsoft Office with the latest Service Packs have been confirmed to be compatible with Windows 10:

Older versions of Office such as Office 2003 and Office XP are not certified compatible with Windows 10 but might work using compatibility mode.

    Best thing is to format your computer and reinstall Windows and Office 2007.  This might work.

    Hi again. So I cut and pasted the command into Cortana and was give the option to run the command. A notification came up that the (Office) program was being configured. When it finished I tried to open a *docx file by clicking on it. Same thing again. Word opened up, but no document. So I manually created the association by following the previous instruction and tried again. Nada!. I then did a computer shut down and restart and tried again, still didn't work.

    Office 2007 has always been Office version 12. Office 95 was V7, Office 97 was V8, Office 2000 was V9, Office XP (aka 2002) was V10, Office 2003 was V11, Office 2010 was V14 (they skipped V13), Office 2013 was V15, and Office 2016 is V16.

    I think you have an issue with an incorrect space somewhere. I'd recommend reregistering Word to see if that will correct the problem. Click Start and in the Search field, enter

    "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe" /r

    Be sure to keep the quotes. Reregistering Word should reset all the file type associations correctly.
