Older versions of Office such as Office 2003 and Office XP are not certified compatible with Windows 10 but might work using compatibility mode.

Yes, I am installing it now after figuring it out. Right click on .exe file and hit test compatibility and it fixes it to work. Then put in your key and it starts installing. I knew it worked somehow because I had it on windows 10 once, but had to reformat laptop and reistall everything. Now I can use it again. :)

I did put in Office 2007, and I was getting the same configuration process when I opened Word, but not with Excel.  So I looked it up and it said to do this to eliminate that problem:  type in my pc in left hand bottom corner.  Click on Windows C.

From there click on the following:

    Program Files (x86)

    Common Files

    Microsoft Shared

    Office12

    Office Setup Controller

Then scroll down where it says SETUP and rename it to SETUPold.

This worked for me, and now I am able to open Word without going through the configuration process.   If you try this, let me know how it worked for you.

Office 2007 DOES run on my Windows 10. However, Office 2007 goes through a lengthy configuration process each time I use it. So to simply print an envelope, I have to wait 5 minutes for the configuration to take place.

I am switching to Windows 7 due to many problems with Windows 10, so it does not matter anymore.
