Can't Sign Out Of Outlook In Browsers?

I don't know about anyone else, but in my never very humble opinion not being able to sign out of Outlook is a huge problem and a major flaw. The way it stands now, any browser on any machine where I open my Outlook will be able to go back in to my email without logging in, whether I'm there or not. And none of the things any support person has tried solves the issue. I've already been thru all of it, removing cookies, history, changing settings, different browsers, changing certificates, etc. and still it is impossible to sign out of Outlook in a browser.

I know I'm no expert, but nobody should have to jump thru all those hoops just to force my browsers to let me sign out of Outlook. And everybody tells me Microsoft made it this way by design?? WHAT?

FIX THIS! I'm no expert, but I'm no ordinary dummy user, either. I'm a developer so I can try things without messing up my machine. But nothing I've tried so far has made any difference. When the browser opens, and I go to Outlook, it automatically logs in and lets whomever is sitting at the computer have full access to my email.

Do you not see this as a major design flaw, Bill?

    I have read your entire thread and I agree with you whole heartedly. I have been having the same problem recently. I haven't found a fix either. This has just been happening within the past couple of months. Major security flaw! I am looking at switching to another email provider and maybe everyone else should, too!

    I have this problem too and the only way that seems to help is if I go into OneDrive and sign out through that. It'll still show the email open in the original email screen but if I just click on the X to close it and then go check back, it'll be closed. Sometimes the regular Log Out will work but more often than not it doesn't and just shows it opening again.

    I got the same problem. I just switch to OneDrive and logoff. It opens OD in a new tab and when you log off there, you can see the Outlook Mail tab also log off at the same time. That constant non-log off loop is super annoying.

    Outlook is working properly for me now (see above) but when it wasn't I tried going to One Drive and it wouldn't let me log off from there either, that is, clicking on the avatar did not produce the drop-down menu in One Drive either.

    Now it is working for me, the switch to One Drive also works, that is, clicking on the avatar produces the drop-down menu and clicking on Log off logs off both One Drive and Outlook/Hotmail.

    I just went back to the tab with Outlook stuck open, where a fresh email had come in. Initially still nothing from clicking on the avatar, but I refreshed again, and this time it has given me the drop-down menu with log out at the bottom and I have successfully logged out.

    Now to see what happens when I close this browser, and relaunch it again later in today (from a cold reboot of this PC).

    Clicking on the avatar of me as circled does nothing. I've tried going to Help, to Settings, to other folders apart from my inbox, and on every screen clicking on the avatar does nothing. And this is today, after a few instances over the last few weeks of it giving me the drop-down menu with sign-out at the bottom and my signing out and it automatically going to nine-msn, only for Outlook to be automatically opened next time I launch my browser (which is Chrome, btw).
