Reinstalling Microsoft Office 2013 on New Computer

I have read a lot of rumors on this topic on the web and want to get a real answer before proceeding.  I purchased Microsoft Office 2013 a few months ago but never installed it.  I'd like to install it now.  However, I plan to purchase a new laptop in approximately a year.  Some of the rumors say that once you install Microsoft Office 2013, not only can you not transfer it to a new machine at a later date, but you can't even reinstall it on the same machine if you reformat the hard drive, decided to install a brand new hard drive, or something similar that changes your machine's hardware configuration.  I want to make sure that if I install Microsoft Office 2013 now that 1) I can remove it later and use the license on a new laptop (Windows 8) and 2) I can reinstall it on this same computer after reformatting my hard drive and doing a clean install of Windows (most likely Windows 7) and other apps.   Please advise.  Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community and we are glad to assist you with your concern.

You will be able to re-install Office 2013 on the same computer if you had to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install of the operating system.

You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you, but not more than one time every 90 days (except due to hardware failure, in which case you may transfer sooner). If you transfer the software to another computer, that other computer becomes the "licensed computer."

Any time you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer and you may not retain any copies.

    I don't have my old computer, it crashed so I got a new computer. Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 was on the computer and we want to transfer license to this computer without the use of the old computer.

    I am transferring Outlook 2013 to a second new computer in three months. The first new computer failed and it was replaced by Office Depot no problem. Outlook would have been installed first time on my old computer and the first replacement which has been returned. I don't think I uninstalled it. The instructions seem to say that the program must be removed from the original computer before it will install on the  2nd replacement computer. The new computer has a trial copy of Outlook that will expire shortly. What can be done to continue uninterrupted?

    My previous computer crashed and I was not able to remove Microsoft prior to that time.  I no longer have my product key but had full use of Microsoft office prior to the computer dying.
