Hi,

I constantly show a very high CPU usage on the CSISYNCCLIENT.EXE process (MS Office Document Cache Sync Client Interface). This is very frustrating and slowing down things on my laptop.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Pls help.

I managed to narrow it down to OneDrive that was causing the issue. After reading Millewa's post I hunted down a way to delete the cache, and so far so good.  Fingers crossed as this has been dragging out over a few days now.

I followed these steps to delete the cache (yes - I know its for SkyDrive but it still worked)

To clear your cache, close all your Office processes like groove.exe (which is SkyDrive Pro), msouc.exe, msosync.exe, office library sync,

Browse to “C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Spw” and delete all the content. (You will see that this is all related to groove and spw = SharePoint Workspace).

Next, go to “C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache” and also delete all content from this folder. This is where all the caching from your files are stored.

After you deleted everything, you should be able to start SkyDrive Pro again (using “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\GROOVE.EXE“).

Good luck! I will re post if it starts playing up again :|

Hi all,

I just suffer the same issue with my original surface pro 128G (win8.1)

I check the task manager which show a lots of CSISYN~1.exe execute in background and CPU usage is 100%.

I try to dig out some solution by google and short summary as below.

1.Unchecked****the option "Use Office to sync files faster and work on files" in onedrive( sky drive)

But it didn't work for me due to I even cannot find the setting option in my onedrive setting.

2. Removal/reinstall the office 2013 or office 365.

It work but when I re-install the office, the issue come back again.

3. Removal the skydirive or onedirve app/ program

As you known, the ondrive is default app in win8.1. however, I still find a skydirve program in programs and features of control panel.

Therefore, I try to uninstall and remove it. -----> it work. no more CSISYN~1.exe abnormal execute in background and everything normal.

For you all reference.

Thanks

Arthur

Dear All,

I actually worked with a second-level Microsoft technician today (for about four hours, via phone and LogMeIn), and the problem was actually solved. The cache used by OneDrive (MSO cache) was corrupted. The installation of Office 365 was completely removed, and a clean install then worked. I was not following all the details as the technician worked on the computer via LogMeIn, but I can say that in my particular case, the Csisyncclient.exe problem resulted from a corrupted cache.

    Millewa,

I appreciate you taking the time to post such a thorough reply. Good for you on the Microsoft elevation! I will remember your advice if I have to try Microsoft tech support in the future. It's helpful to know that they can be persuaded by intelligent persistence.

I ended up taking the path of least resistance, at least for now. I copied all of my documents to my hard drive, deleted the files that were recommended earlier in the thread, reinstalled Office, and stopped using One Drive. Perhaps in some later update, Microsoft will get these kinks worked out and I can try OneDrive again. I just don't have time for a 3-4 hour phone support session right now.

    Microsoft, if you're listening......

    Laura

    Hi Laura,

You seem to be the first that noticed my email, from roughly six weeks ago. I actually did get the problem fixed (by Microsoft second-level support), and Office 365 is working exactly the way it is supposed to work, with OneDrive fully engaged. The "repair" cost me nothing. The basic thing I did was to try all the other solutions, none of which work (as is well known by this point), and to be insistent with the first-level support that the things that they were suggesting were already long known and also long known not to work. I also insisted that the combination of Office 365 and OneDrive was part of Microsoft's intended design, that the use of OneDrive was actually very valuable for me since I'm away from home fairly often, and that I wasn't going to let go on this issue until OneDrive worked as designed. I should note that I tend to be remarkably persistent in such circumstances. I also indicated, by the way, that I have actually found Microsoft support exceedingly useful in the past and that I know that they they have the resources to address these matters. Finally, I mentioned that first-level support was drawing from the same database of solutions that many other people had been trying and that only second-level support would have the expertise to explore the problem further. First-level support finally submitted a request for second-level support, and I received a callback within about an hour. I hope that helps. If I can find the actual number of the support incident (I'm away from home for another three days), I'll post it. Millewa
